LET THERE BE FLASH! Adobe and Apple Working to bring Flash to the iPhone

Posted by asdf on February 5, 2009 under Technology | Be the First to Comment

From MacRumors:

Bloomberg reports that Adobe’s Chief Executive Officer Shantanu Narayen has revealed that Adobe is working with Apple on bringing Flash support to the iPhone:

“It’s a hard technical challenge, and that’s part of the reason Apple and Adobe are collaborating,” Narayen said today in a Bloomberg Television interview from the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland. “The ball is in our court. The onus is on us to deliver.”

Flash is a very popular web plug-in that is used to deliver animation and video content on the web. Apple’s iPhone has notably not supported Flash since its launch.

In March, Steve Jobs even said that the the current version of Flash performed too slowly on the iPhone. It’s not clear what might have caused the change of heart, though Adobe announced in November that they were partnering with ARM to create an optimized implementation of Flash specifically for the ARM11 family of processors. Apple’s iPhone is based on these processors, so it may be seeing the benefit of this collaboration.

DevTeam Releases an Unsupported 2G iPod Touch Jailbreak

Written by iPhone Alley:

The iPhone Dev-Team has released an unsupported version of the upcoming 2G iPod touch jailbreak, dubbed “redsn0w.” Available at redsn0w.com, the jailbreak is Mac-only and does not include a GUI. Because the process is “tethered” and involves using the command-line, the Dev-Team cautions that only experienced users attempt the jailbreak. Furthermore, they will not be providing any support on their blog.

If you’re willing to attempt the jailbreak be sure to read the instructions first. If it seems too difficult, we advise waiting for a supported release.

I suggest to wait. I think we will have a safe way of jailbreaking iPod Touch 2G soon :D or, at least, a guide.

iPod Touch 2nd Generation Jailbreak – redsn0w

Posted by asdf on January 22, 2009 under Technology | Be the First to Comment

I don’t know about you, but I find it hard to believe that its still taking this long to release a jailbreak for the 2nd generation iPod Touch. There are cracks for literally every other device and for some reason, not for this one. My poor friend Jeff doesn’t have an iPhone, and therefore can’t enjoy the wonderful world of cracked applications that we so often hang out on. Please comment on this post if you hear of anything new regarding this topic… for Jeff’s sake.

Here’s a bit of info that I found regarding the highly sought after jailbreak, codenamed ‘redsn0w’.

2G iPod Touch jailbreak

The iPhone-Dev team has relased a video of 2G iPod Touch jailbreak code named ‘redsn0w’

Update 1: Here is the first screenshot of a jailbroken iPod Touch 2G. Right now the jailbreak process is far too manual to be useful to most people. But this is a first step (well, second step if you include the initial exploit).

When we announced yellowsn0w, we made the mistake of giving an ETA for its release…and that really clobbered the last day of 2008 for us. So we won’t be issuing a formal ETA for the ipt2G jailbreak. But we are putting a lot of energy into it.”

far too complex for the average 'jailbreaker'.
