Online poker has received a lot press in the last few years. As more and more people discover the intrigue of poker, many savvy web users have realized that playing online is a fantastic way to instantly participate in a cash game or tournaments which used to require a fair amount of organization in order to access.

What many of you don’t realize is that there is an enormous business behind getting people such as yourself to sign up to play online poker. It’s known as the online poker affiliate industry , and a brief search on Google for “affiliate poker marketing” will prove just how sophisticated and immense this industry really is. The online poker affiliate business has international trade shows (CAP and PAP), online magazines, dedicated forums, and more importantly, millions of customers. While it may not be surprising that such an industry exists, what might shock you is exactly how lucrative it can be.

Did you know, that in many cases, for simply having you sign up to a particular online poker room with their bonus code, an affiliate can get paid as much as $250 US?? Did you also know that anyone at all can become an affiliate and that you don’t even need a website? That’s correct, you can sign up to become an affiliate yourself and make $1250 US in a month for doing practically no work at all!

If you read up on the standard deals offered by online poker affiliate programs, most of the CPA (cost per acquisition) deals that they offer are relatively low. Usually between $50 US and $100 US per player you’ve signed up. The key is to negotiate with the room you are dealing with toward a better deal. Typically this means that you will be required to send a specific number of players to a particular poker room in order to receive a certain level of commission. Eg 20 players per month for a $200 US CPA commission. Negotiation is the key with affialiate managers, and they are often likely to give you what you want if you are both stern and savvy when putting a deal together with them. Remember, always aim high when initially negotiating your CPA. If you ask for $250, they are likely to come back at you with $200; still a very lucrative deal! Remember, when you send these rooms good players, the player value is often around $5-600 in rake for the poker room. It is more than worth their while to pay you well for the traffic you send ..
