GPT Programs – Do they work? – CashCrate.com Does!

Posted by asdf on February 17, 2009 under Business | Be the First to Comment

Hey all,

GPT programs, or Get Paid To programs, are becoming highly popular for the average techy who wants to earn money by sitting around on their couch all day. I used to believe that all of these were scams and that there was no way you could earn money by doing surveys and questionnaires all day, but the truth of the matter is that it does actually work. You may not earn thousands of dollars right off the bat, but if you start now, I can guarantee you that you’ll make $10 the first day, $20 the second, $40 the third, and before you know it, you will be making a lot more.   The only thing you have to invest is your time.  Although valuable, you might have some extra of it sitting around…

Here’s the trick though… not only do you have to complete survey after survey (which is quite time consuming), but you have to develop a network of people doing this. Companies like CashCrate.com pay you anywhere between $3 to $10 for each person who signs up and completes 2 surveys.  As long as you yourself completes 2, and you get your friends to do the same, you’re making some serious dough.  I’ve already started doing this and its definitely easy.

If you like this idea and want to give it a try, please support me and use my referral link.  It doesn’t take anything away from your earnings and I would really appreciate the support.  Thanks.

Using Craigslist for Social Marketing

Posted by strohlio on February 5, 2009 under Business | Read the First Comment

One of the internet’s greatest powers is its ability to connect people with similar needs and interests.  While there are many tools that marketers have began to use on a regular basis for social marketing, like Facebook, Twitter, Blogger, and Youtube, one of the most valuable tools available to social media marketers remains widely overlooked; Craigslist.

Social marketing is all about making your message accessible to the millions of consumers who use the internet on a regular basis.  These people may either be seeking out the product you are selling, or they may simply come across your message while reading or watching content at one of their favorite social networking sites.  If you are capable of displaying your message within an environment where people are already likely to be searching for your product, they are one step further down the marketing funnel, and are therefore even more likely to be willing to spend their money on your product or service.  Craigslist is the perfect tool to accomplish this, and here are the two most important reasons why:

1.  Craigslist is organized geographically; if your business is located in one particular city, you now have an incredibly powerful way to connect with other individuals in the same market.

Categorized by City

Categorized by City

2.  Craigslist is organized by specific categories so you can post ads in sections of the site that people are already using to find the exact types of products and services you are selling.  Free targeted marketing!

Craigslist by Category

Craigslist by Category

So the question still remains, “How exactly do you use Craigslist in order to make money?”.  The answer to this question is actually more simple than you think … find a section of the site that best fits what you are looking to market, and then find a creative way posting your ads in that category in order to develop potential sales leads.  If you are selling something, this may be as simple as posting an ad for ‘widgets for sale’ because you are in the business of selling widgets.   If you are in affiliate marketing or are selling something for which there is no exact category on Craigslist, you may need to be a bit more creative (or round-about) in the manner you use the site to develop leads.  An example of this may be a paper and pens business which posts an add for “writers wanted” in the jobs/writers section of Craigslist not in the hopes of actually hiring a writer, but with the sole intention of developing a database of potential customers who regularly buy paper and pens.  Which ever route you decide or need to take, your creativity is the only thing that will limit you in your ability to turn this powerful social networking site into an profitable marketing platform for your business.

Using Craigslist in the Short Term:

Craigslist has a specific set of terms and conditions which it can enforce by blocking similar posts to the ones you are making, blocking your IP address, or in the most extreme cases, getting local law enforcement involved.  If your marketing efforts on the site comply with all posted regulations, you’re likely to be enjoying the immense power of targeted marketing for a long time to come.  You still need to be careful and not get too carried away with your success. Don’t post the same ad too often or in multiple categories.   The practice of top-posting is regularly monitored by the site, and they will prevent you from posting at all if you are found to be posting too often.  The best practices for using this site are to remain within the listed terms and conditions of usage.  The moment the Craigslist anti-spam and overpost team has you in their sights, your ability to market on Craigslist will be severly comprimised.

Using Craigslist in the Longterm:

If you find yourself being able to post on Craiglist 6 to 12 months after you began, it’s probably a good sign that you that you are doing something right.  Craigslist not only weeds out scams and spam themselves, but they have empowered each user with the ability to flag any post which they believe to be abusing the system.  If you get flagged too often, your days of harnessing the immense power of targeted consumer traffic will soon be over.  If you are legitimately using Craigslist in order to develop sales leads for your business, your biggest obstacle will be in convincing potential customers that what your doing is not a scam (and it better not be!).  Your success in this area will largely be governed by your sales acumen and ability to overcome situations in which you are likely to be dealing with initial resistence.

Social Marketing: Are you taking advantage of the powerful tools at your disposal?

Posted by strohlio on February 4, 2009 under Business | Be the First to Comment

A friend of mine, a writer, contacted me today in order to find a source for a story she’s in the process of writing for a local Vancouver, BC e-zine. After discussing the subject matter of the article with her for a while, our conversation eventually made its way to the topic of how she planned to eventually develop a loyal readership, or simply get her writing ‘out there’ so it gets noticed on the internet. I was surprised to hear that such a young and talented individual seemed to have no knowledge whatsoever of the incredibly powerful social marketing tools at her disposal, and NO INTERNET MARKETING STRATEGY in order to help her achieve her goals. In case you haven’t noticed, it is now 2009 and ignoring the internet with regard to personal career development is simply not an option.

I spent some time on the phone with my friend explaining the benefits of using such tools, and more importantly, the opportunity cost of NOT using them. Firstly, it is important that whatever you decide to do with regard to social marketing, you begin by first developing an internet marketing strategy. This can be as simple as determining your goals, and determining which tools you’re going to use in order to achieve those goals. Your plan should always have a beginning, middle, and end, within which you plot where you are now against where you want to be in your future. For the purposes of this article, lets keep it simple.

My Internet Marketing Strategy:

1. Create either a website or blog (and fill it with wonderful unique content).
2. Use social marketing tools to get it noticed by internet users.
3. Become a world famous icon.

When most people think of the internet, especially unsophisticated users, they almost immediately only think about websites. My friend was hung up on the same ideas. She was under the impression that if she WAS to begin marketing herself on the web, she would require a website; not true. There are many different kinds of websites, but for something as simple as writing on the web, a simple blog should be more than enough to launch your presence on the web. There are many different tools available for creating your own blog on the internet, and the best part is that most of these tools are free.

Blogs

For bloggers who aren’t technically savvy, I recommend entering the blogoshere with the help of Blogger. This Google owned blogging platform is free, and requires little more than a valid email address and some basic personal info in order to get started. You can customize certain aspects of your blogger blog, and give it a unique look and feel by selecting one of the many available templates the service has to offer.

If you are a bit more technical and have the patience to deal with learning how to use a content management system (CMS), I highly recommend using either a WordPress or Joomla enabled site. Both of these CMS’s are quite popular, free, and have a multitude of different templates, plugins, and widgets available to choose from. You should be aware that in order to use either of these blogging back ends, you’ll need to first purchase a domain (eg: www.yourblogname.com) and then host it. This can be easily done through hosting services like Godaddy.com. BlogAboutDan is a blog which uses WordPress as it’s CMS.

Facebook

So. Now that you have a blog, how are people going to find it, read it, and spread its content “virally” throughout the rest of the internet and blogosphere? You’re going to need to market your new blog via social marketing tools available to you on the internet. You’re in luck; this is much easier than you think. As a matter of fact, you are probably already familiar with some of the best tools available in order to achieve your goals. You have probably heard of sites like Facebook, and you may even already have an account there. Guess what? Simply posting a link from Facebook to your new blog is an excellent way to get it noticed by hundreds of people. Facebook also offers a variety of pages which can be made for groups, people sharing personal interests, and even businesses. Creating a specific page on Facebook which is unique to your blog is an excellent way to begin getting your blog the kind of exposure you want. Remember, tools like Facebook are great for spreading the word, but if your blog simply sucks, nobody is going to read it either way. Create lots of unique and interesting content. Don’t forget to invite all your friends!

Twitter

Twitter is another excellent social marketing tool for getting the word about your blog out to potential readers. Twitter is a tool which can be used to literally develop a group of people who follow and listen to everything you post about your blog. When you ‘tweet’ on twitter, each and every one of the people who follow your account will instantly be sent a message regarding your latest and greatest posts. If it’s interesting they can use links you post in your messages or account page to visit your blog to see what you’ve written about. Twitter is an excellent way to notify hundreds of people at once about new content you’ve just created. With over 15,000 new users a day, it is also one of the most powerful ways of currently spreading viral content around the internet. Make sure you don’t choose a bizarre username when creating your twitter account. This will only make it more difficult for potential readers to search for you and follow your updates.

Social Bookmarking

Social bookmarking sites are used by internet users in order to literally bookmark interesting content that they find on the web. When enough users bookmark or flag a particular piece of content, this piece of content will be presented to similar users which that social bookmarking site feels will also enjoy the flagged content. Social bookmarking has enormous potential for getting interesting things noticed on the internet. The more a page on your blog is bookmarked, the easier it can be found by search engines like Google and Yahoo. Can you say viral! Check out the links below to see some of the most popular social bookmarking sites currently being used on the web. The first step with these sites is to create an account and bookmark your own blog’s content.

The Pope will be featured on the Vatican’s new Youtube channel.

Posted by strohlio on January 23, 2009 under Business, Politics | Be the First to Comment

New developments in internet marketing technologies seem to come about on a daily basis. While computers and the internet have become a part of daily life, most users are relatively unsophisticated and mainly use the web for simple communication needs like email, and for doing basic research related to their daily activities via Google. This is all changing. With the emergence of social networking sites life Facebook, Twitter, Craigslist and Youtube, individuals, businesses, governments, and even religious organizations are now beginning to see the enormous marketing potential that lies in usage of these new internet technologies.

CBC news reported today that the Vatican launched its own Youtube channel aimed at communicating on a daily basis with its patrons through streaming internet video. Millions of people use Youtube each day to search for information on just about everything you can imagine. What most people don’t know, is that anyone at all can create their own Youtube Channel. All you need to do is post videos and title them. The potential is massive as hundreds of thousands use Youtube hourly.

The Pope is expected to appear in the Vatican’s Youtube channel on a regular basis. Two minute videos covering developments and activities at the Vatican are expected to be uploaded to the channel daily.

Twitter – Why is this suddenly the most popular thing?

Posted by asdf on under Business, Technology | Be the First to Comment

I’m always interested in the latest and greatest thing on the internet. For some reason, Twitter is getting tons of press these days and I’m not sure I fully understand its potential. I hear about it on the radio, on tv, on other websites… Sooo many Tweets. Its kinda reminds me of the time that Facebook blew up. Anyways, since I like to stay on top of these sorts of things, I decided to add a Twitter page for BAD (Blog about DAN).

Here’s our account and feel free to ‘follow me’ on Twitter.

The Online Poker Affiliate Business: CPA Commission Advice

Posted by strohlio on January 22, 2009 under Business | Read the First Comment

Posted by Zwi

Online poker has received a lot press in the last few years. As more and more people discover the intrigue of poker, many savvy web users have realized that playing online is a fantastic way to instantly participate in a cash game or tournaments which used to require a fair amount of organization in order to access.

What many of you don’t realize is that there is an enormous business behind getting people such as yourself to sign up to play online poker. It’s known as the online poker affiliate industry , and a brief search on Google for “affiliate poker marketing” will prove just how sophisticated and immense this industry really is. The online poker affiliate business has international trade shows (CAP and PAP), online magazines, dedicated forums, and more importantly, millions of customers. While it may not be surprising that such an industry exists, what might shock you is exactly how lucrative it can be.

Did you know, that in many cases, for simply having you sign up to a particular online poker room with their bonus code, an affiliate can get paid as much as $250 US?? Did you also know that anyone at all can become an affiliate and that you don’t even need a website? That’s correct, you can sign up to become an affiliate yourself and make $1250 US in a month for doing practically no work at all!

If you read up on the standard deals offered by online poker affiliate programs, most of the CPA (cost per acquisition) deals that they offer are relatively low. Usually between $50 US and $100 US per player you’ve signed up. The key is to negotiate with the room you are dealing with toward a better deal. Typically this means that you will be required to send a specific number of players to a particular poker room in order to receive a certain level of commission. Eg 20 players per month for a $200 US CPA commission. Negotiation is the key with affialiate managers, and they are often likely to give you what you want if you are both stern and savvy when putting a deal together with them. Remember, always aim high when initially negotiating your CPA. If you ask for $250, they are likely to come back at you with $200; still a very lucrative deal! Remember, when you send these rooms good players, the player value is often around $5-600 in rake for the poker room. It is more than worth their while to pay you well for the traffic you send ..
